16. Calculation and Music

9. Playing a musical instrument is already a difficult skill

by itself. Fast calculation is another challenging

activity. A person can play a musical instrument. The

same person can be very fast in mental calculation as

well. How about performing them both simultaneously,

that is, making mental calculation while playing a

musical instrument? Two difficult tasks at the same

time.

The first video here belongs

to 8-year-old Hazal, who is

calculating 2-digit numbers

flashing on the screen while

playing a lovely tune with

the violin.

In the second video,
Murathan (12) is calculating

single-digit positive and
negative numbers while he

is singing and playing the

baglama, a common musical

instrument in Turkey.
